An ancient Chinese regiment advises eating two bowls of porridge in the Autumn to benefit ones health and wellbeing.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, a bowl of porridge eaten in the morning is good for the stomach, while a second bowl eaten in the evening aids the kidneys. Some of the most welcome choices of porridge are as follows:

Corn Porridge

Corn porridge is beneficial for people of all ages. It is rich in pantothenic acid, phosphorus, niacin, dietary fiber, manganese, and vitamin B6.

Pumpkin porridge

Pumpkin porridge is rich in nutrients after being cultivated by the summer’s sunshine. Pumpkin porridge can invigorate the spleen and replenish ones physical energy. It provides 100 percent of ones daily need of vitamin A, 20 percent of vitamin C, 10 percent of vitamin E, as well as, riboflavin, potassium, copper, and manganese.

Millet porridge

Millet porridge is beneficial for the stomach and can help induce sleep by reducing blood pressure. Millet is high in protein and dietary fiber. It contains B-complex vitamins including niacin, folacin, thiamin, and riboflavin. It also contains iron, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, potassium, and essential amino acids.

Glutinous rice and Chinese red date

Porridge made using glutinous rice and Chinese red date can be prepared with or without sugar. It benefits the spleen and stomach, and helps those with no appetite or those suffering from chronic gastritis or hypertension. Rice contains varying amounts of vitamins B1 through B6 along with complex carbohydrates. Red dates are high in vitamin C and also abound with vitamins A, B1, B2, protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and magnesium.
